Face It
Do you remember a time when you just felt dried out? Longing for more of yourself? I've returned from two fabulous weeks of with Judith Aston learning oh! so much about the power of change in the face, neck and head in her Facial Fitness class. We wear our history in our faces as well as in our bodies. And we can balance the tone in our faces in concert with our bodies' movements with astounding results. The changes clients have had in individual bodywork/movement/facial massage and toning sessions have been remarkable--from breathing more easily to ending jaw pain and reducing chronic neck tension, to feeling better all over. Not to mention the fun of discovering a more-you and less-your-problems expression!
Facial Fitness Classes Coming to Portland
Years ago Judith noticed that facial toning books and videos didn't include the whole body, but "borrowed" from other areas. People's faces looked great, but their bodies got jammed: in the neck, the jaw, etc. So she developed a class that lets you "be in your best body " and be in your best face.An interesting side benefit is that when we have our best face available, the one that no longer holds beliefs we've let go of, we actually make better present time decisions. In a few weeks I'll be letting you know the particulars so you can take a thorough, and thoroughly fun 2 hour intro class. Classes are small so I can tailor the exercises to your needs. Stay tuned.
Moving Beyond Posture: In Your Body on the Earth
I'm delighted to introduce Judith Aston's latest book. Small, extremely readable, filled with fascinating stories to illustrate her concepts. I'll be including tidbits for you to enjoy in later issues. Pick up a copy at my office in Portland, or use Quick Links to click on "More about Aston-Patterning" then click on the photo of her book. Only $13.95.
"Yes this is an exercise book. Yes, this is a book about movement concepts. But it is also about learning to listen to your body and to work with it and the forces of the earth. As you do this you begin to move out of your holding patterns and into presence. This is the art of being in your best available body, in vastly differing times of joy, despair, stress and peace." Judith Aston
A genuine smile comes from a genuine feeling of happiness. Remember a time when someone you love and admire smiled at you. Notice how your body responds. Pass it on.
Sincerely,
Valerie
